Methodology and Definitions

1. Data Sourcing & Collection

Our platform uses Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) to capture real-time viewing data from the "glass" of over 23 million opted-in U.S. households, across a diverse panel of devices (Vizio, LG) and peripheral inputs. Each captured ad is fingerprinted and matched against a comprehensive ad library to verify when and where it aired.

2. Channel Categorization

Each advertiser's activity is split across three mutually exclusive channels.

Broadcast
Local station-originated linear & cable
Local OTA broadcast affiliates (Seattle: KOMO/KING/KIRO/KCPQ; Spokane: KHQ/KREM/KXLY; Yakima-Tri-Cities: KIMA/KEPR/KAPP), national broadcast networks, syndicated broadcast, and traditional linear cable/satellite (Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, DirecTV/Dish) — viewed via antenna or linear carriage.
vMVPD
Streaming delivery of linear feeds
Live-TV streaming bundles and MVPD streaming apps — YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Sling, fuboTV, Philo, plus XFINITY, DirecTV, Dish, Cox, Spectrum and Uverse Streaming. Internet-delivered, but the content is broadcast-originated linear, so it's reported on its own line.
CTV / Streaming
True app-based connected-TV
Ad-supported streaming apps (Peacock, Pluto, Tubi, Paramount+), the YouTube app, and peripheral devices (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation) — true OTT inventory distinct from the linear feed.

3. Competitive Set

The full market view counts every legal advertiser detected delivering impressions in the market, including national advertisers running connected-TV into the area. The competitive set narrows to the firms actually competing locally — national mass-tort and out-of-market advertisers are set aside so the local picture isn't distorted by national streaming volume. A firm is kept in the local set if it shows meaningful local-broadcast delivery or competes at material scale in the market.

Impressions are directional estimates from a panel-based measurement methodology. A predominantly broadcast-led advertiser will still show some streaming exposure because ACR captures incidental viewing across the connected-TV panel.
